WHO IS BEX?
I am a mum, wife, business person, strategist, problem solver and big-time enthusiast for getting things sorted. I have spent more than 20 years building businesses, leading people, making things happen and occasionally wondering what the hell I was doing. If you are reading this and thinking same, please know you are not alone.
I have built things from scratch, grown them, broken things, rebuilt them, made some very expensive mistakes and eventually sold Firebrand, the business Paul and I built over 17 years. I know what it is like to have an idea, turn it into something real, employ people, make the hard calls, navigate the shit bits and keep going when things do not go according to plan.
I am happiest when things are complicated and someone needs to work out what to do next. I love big ideas, but I love seeing them actually happen even more. My style is pretty direct. I ask a lot of questions and I will tell you what I think. I am not interested in making things sound cleverer than they are or giving you a 47-page strategy document that sits in a drawer and never gets actioned.
I have learned most of what I know by actually doing it. That is probably the most useful thing I can bring to the table.

For ourselves and others we have started hundreds of businesses, products, programmes and platforms from a blank page. Most significantly, Firebrand in 2009, which Paul and I built over 17 years.

Built strategic plans, brands, websites, campaigns and digital products and helped businesses sell the hell out of what they do.

Businesses for us and others. Government programmes. Business platforms. Community projects. Give me a blank page and I will probably start filling it in.
PEOPLE.
Employed hundreds of people. Built teams. Managed people. Developed people. Hired people. And made the difficult calls when I had to.
BEEN ON ALL SIDES.
Owner, employee, consultant, strategist, client, recruiter, leader and the person who ultimately has to make the call.
YOUTH MAHI.
Worked alongside young people, employers and Government to help young people find their way into work and towards a good life. Most proudly through Youth Employment Success.
GOVERNANCE.
Director, adviser, trustee, steward and community advocate. And yes, I even had a tilt at City Council.
MADE A LOT OF MISTAKES.
Plenty of them. They are probably some of my most useful qualifications.
